Demand? lol It really Depends on how much you make right now but probably like 10-15%. It's harder to get a big raise without changing jobs.
^^^^^
Demand was a poor choice of words - more like counter offer because they’re probably going to try to lowball me.
I know what you meant, no worries. To really counter an offer you need some sort of leverage like another offer on the table. Otherwise it's really up to how much they want to give you and every company always wants to spend as little as possible
I got a good bump, but only because I was ready to take the job somewhere else and had an offer in hand. ACD1 is right - it's all about leverage. If you feel like it's coming, might be smart to put some feelers out with recruiters and see if you can get something else going.
But thanks!
suppose they offer you 10% and you counter with 15% - it's highly unlikely they will change their minds. why would they ? you can either accept the 10% or you can leave.
Arm yourself with data that shows ACD’s make $X amount in your city and company. It’s an easier discussion than percentages (unless you think you’ll get more money that way).
They’ll have more leverage than you because they obviously know how much you currently make. But you have to counter back with a date to revisit that salary increase to meet standards and by then you’ll have enough experience in the new title to walk out and get a better offer if necessary.
Go to glassdoor to calculate your market value. Make your case as irrefutable as possible with "data" on what others in your city/with your years of experience should be making. It's tough to argue with that, especially if they want to keep you.
