Hi Fishes, I am bit confused to pick the role in KPMG lighthouse as Sr Cloud Data architect or Saama technology as a Project lead. Money wise it is not a big difference. In KPMG I will work with partner where as in saama I will work with project/program manager. Please suggest your opinion. Saama KPMG KPMG India

I am a long time Manhattanite and was an English major. 20+ years in tech and operations consulting, no advanced degree. Happy to provide some advice if that resonates (F/early 40s)
For sure let me know how she can connect. I agree with you when it comes to advice that resonates. For this it’s a case of getting as much out as one puts in. So I do ask her to lean-in by being curious.
Good idea. An English major has distinct advantages across many career opportunities. It will be important for her to evaluate what areas her skills nicely match with career opportunities.
Having good communication is essential for any company (whether internal or external).
Think about the roles that she wants and work back from there.
Happy to be helpful
Also have her look at creative copywriting in the ad world
Honorable mention- staffing agency recruiting. I also have a liberal arts degree and I started in a staffing agency about 5 years ago and it’s a great career where you can make some really good money (by year 3-4 $150k-250k is the norm). They look for high energy liberal arts grads and it offers an opportunity to pivot to internal after a few years
Thanks and any connection you can offer to discuss what it means to be working in this environment.
Tech Writer’s make pretty good money. She could also go into Product Marketing
That’s what I had gravitated towards, coming from Tech industry, alas she hangs her hat in creative writing and arena as first port of call.
This said it would be good to have a connection with whom she to confer and understand the role and the work
Rising Star
What does she want to do?
For sure this is a start, alas the range of careers and roles people play in any company are far broader then the narrow view one may have. A case of what you don’t know, won’t come to you!! Mentors can help the process of thinking, and impart wisdom based on their experiences & knowledge.
Prep for lsat -> lawyer
If she's a strong writer and from a strong school, ivy or NYU or something, I'd probably say a good role to consider would be investor relations,
Live in Woodbridge (affordable). Work in publishing. Side hustle at a bookstore.
