Anyone aware of TCS hiring process? How many days normally they take for the process. I had an interview yesterday both technical and Managerial. After that HR confirmed me over mail that I have cleared the interview rounds and asked to fill all the details on their portal. However, I haven't got any update today so I am just curious how many days they normally take to verify docs and proceed to HR discussion?Tata Consultancy Wipro Infosys IBM Accenture

Do small law firms have paralegal managers?
New to Fishbowl?

Find another firm. You've gained experience now to make you successful somewhere else.
Also, Paralegals are not salaried personnel. That would require two direct reports which is not the case. I am tired of these lawyers being cheap with their staff
I'd start looking for another paralegal job at another firm. Depending on what skills you've learned, there are many other firms hiring staff. Don't sell yourself short - you don't have to be a certified paralegal to work as one. I have 25 years of experience and I'm considered a paralegal now, although not certified as one.
Paralegal + exempt= Absolutely not!
Unless you have direct reports, you still are an "hourly" employee. And it is based on federal laws not state laws for the most part.
When you say salaried, do you also mean that they don’t pay you any overtime? Paralegals are typically non-exempt roles, so even if you are salaried, you should be receiving overtime pay for overtime work. And if you don’t have a certificate or education, it is very likely you don’t qualify as exempt.
I'm in the same boat, except I'm also the Office Coordinator & salaried...I stopped staying late after realizing it was being taken advantage of...I will be leaving hopefully by August & its unfortunate cuz I do like my job, but the caseload, with no support & the salary sucking...yeah no, I can't justify staying💯 I have a ABA approved Bachelors with going on 4 yrs experience l can & will find somewhere better & so will you!😁💯👍🏾
Yes we will! Thank you😊
The attorney/firm is taking advantage of you and knows you will continue to burn out and take care of case load on salary. I’ve never heard of an exempt paralegal.
Definitely exploiting you. Don’t work overtime without overtime pay.
Worked at a firm where they would promote receptionists with no legal experience to paralegal positions. Don’t sell your self short, you are probably more qualified than a lot of people, look elsewhere. Good luck!!
In Texas, and I think in most states if not the ABA, you ARE a paralegal. You have done substantive legal work under the supervision of an attorney for a year or more! You ARE one of us, certificate or not! YOU know your stuff.
Idea. If you don't want to leave and want to try a different approach, perhaps you could convince your attorney to hire a part-time paralegal to work with you and do whatever you think would help you to get out of the office on time vs. constant over-time. The part-time paralegal could be contract (1099 basis). By the way there was a legal case brought by and won by a group of paralegals who argued they should be hourly not salaried.
I am in-house, 30+ years of experience, certified with an advanced specialty certification. I am classified as exempt though I work and receive comments and approvals for in depth documents from General Counsel. He likes to lay eyes on everything that goes out and that is fine. I never want to be accused of the unauthorized practice of law. But I'm classified as exempt. Our company took on legal work for a lot more divisions, and since last summer I have worked easily 12 consistent hours a day plus some weekends. I have asked for more help but the General Counsel has been told no its not in the budget. I'm exhausted and am seeing health problems because of it. My raise was 1.9% and they could have kept it for what difference it made. I'm looking for another in-house role but it seems this is a bad time to be looking. I also commute a good distance to the office which adds to my long days. My adult son and daughter tell me I'm crazy to stay without being paid overtime. I do keep track of my hours for my own benefit and calculate that I have provided about $31,000 worth of free work for this company, or basically worked another part-time job for them for free. They just laugh when I tell them that. The HR President claims I meet the 4 requirements for exempt but I do not! The problem here is volume of workload and no end in sight, until I find a position where I am valued. I hope this makes someone else feel like they are not alone in a miserable employment situation.
What does your boss say when you bring it up to him? Is he amenable to decreasing your workload? It sounds like he isn't, in which case I would definitely start looking for another firm. If you enjoy what you do but dislike the amount of work you're expected to do, consider staying in the industry while finding a place that supports you as a person.
In essence, the conversation is that everybody has too much work in the firm. Ive expressed that there is too much work and I cannot handle this nor do I think anyone could and I’ve suggested that we cut down on how many potential clients we book for consultations but to no avail. I appreciate this feedback and I’m happy I decided to post this because everyone in the comments is really opening my eyes!
You absolutely need to leave that job. It will not get better and it will burn you out. Take what you’ve learned and move on. That’s what everybody does.
I did, I was lucky enough to find an in-house position. Total game changer.
I have only had one exempt paralegal role. It was in-house, and I enjoyed not having to punch a clock on quieter weeks, but I did dislike not having overtime during crazy busy weeks. A paralegal who has been at my firm for decades told me she is exempt and that it works well for her overall.
BCLP 1 - Salary is only part of exemption. Misclassification of a non-exempt employee doesn’t work well for that person under any circumstances. If you are exempt and a paralegal, they are likely doing something wrong and may be stealing your wages
I stayed at a personal injury firm for 12 years because of the attorney I worked for, even though the environment was incredibly toxic, overworked, understaffed, run by a paralegal manager that knew nothing about litigation processes and court procedures. I finally left and went to a new firm. Still overworked (but not as bad) because I think thay the nature of our area of law. Is it the caseload or is there other things creating stress
Been there before. Find another firm, non-exempt position. Depending on your state, you may qualify as a paralegal based on years alone. Boss is taking advantage of you.
Finding another law firm might be the way to go because it is clear that your boss doesn't care about you.
Mentor
I have been there. But, hourly. The attorney under paid me tremendously. I loved the attorney but had to move on. As far as finding another firm, only you will know what is best for you. An attorney once told me, "I guard my peace at all cost." So, if you do not have peace about leaving, stay until you have found exactly what you desire and do not except anything less. Don't comprise or settle. Stay where you are until you know that you know. Because when you know and there is no second guessing, you will be ready to make the switch.
Find another firm; I don’t think you’d necessarily even need a paralegal cert.

In case anyone reads this - I left and I’m actually able to live life now. In house paralegal and I’ve never been happier in my adult life. Grass is greener
I would try sales, and try to pivot from that.
However, I have also worked at GRSM, and I worked for good companies with good people. I would also try an in house paralegal position, and see if you can grow from that. Ultimately, many jobs may overwork their people, but if you have a good manager that listens to you and makes adjustments, you can thrive.
