Do I think they have to? Absolutely not. Unless the market demands it, why would they?

Now if the wording changed to “would it be nice if they…” that would be different
I get that no one wants RTO. I’ve enjoyed working a hybrid schedule as well, but we can’t “expect” firms to be okay with extending WFH scenarios when we made our way into the office before the pandemic. Of course the pandemic and being stuck at home made us realize how off our WLB was, but it’s truly up to us to make sure we change things and not expect our employers to change the way they’ve done business for years. Please don’t hate me, but I just think it’s wrong to pitch a fit about returning to the office when you’d done the commute and the hours before and, at least to your firm, it worked swimmingly.
lol what C1 said is so true, there is no space in office for all employees 5 days a week, the new concept of shared workspace is doing rounds..
The news showed tax hits are coming for companies that employ people that work from home....first up are the companies with employees living in one state but working for a company in a different state. The states the companies are based aren't getting any taxes from their employees as they don't work in house.
I wouldn't expect them to willingly give you anything. You could approach it as being willing to come back but the cost to you in returning to work is $(name an amount you figured) and your pay will need to be evaluated for you to stay on and return to office. However this may not work for you...companies know work from home opportunities are slim and they aren't the only ones pulling employees back...so you could wind up back in office with no more pay or jobless searching for a rare work from home job.

We RTO two years ago…and received no compensation or assistance to help us “cope.”
Absolutely. Flexible work arrangements are a part of compensation packages and to take that away should merit a boost in another area.
