My first world problem this summer is that my extended family keeps pushing my family to visit with the incentive that their Airbnb, hotel, hoa, community, etc have pools on site. Great - but I literally have my own in-ground pool. I control it's temperature, I don't have to share it with neighbors, I walk outside and there it is.

Career Sabbatical?

Can anyone who has taken a career sabbatical to travel/explore other interests share their experience with both leaving their jobs and returning to the legal field?
I really want to live in Asia for a year at least before I have to settle down and start a family. I’m not getting younger but don’t want to be reckless with my career.

What credit card do you use?

I racked up about $20k in credit card debt due to a confluence of things happening at once (move, school expenses , etc ). I have a fair amount of paper assets but not a much free cash. Assets are down a decent amount with the current market cycle and I’d prefer not to sell them to cover the debt , although they easily could. Started a new job as GC to two companies. I met my teams on-site wearing Jordans and my nicest t-shirts and I’ve been on all my calls wearing a hat with my fingernails painted (my daughters love going to get manicures together). I’m sure it’s easier for a white guy to get away with this sort of thing, but it does feel like it’s a lot easier to be a lawyer and still be yourself than it used to be (although I’ve been in-house gang since I graduated, so I never had firm life to compare it to).

I've been almost 3 years in my previous company and never have I ever tasted any raise from them. I judge the company I work every time they misspell my name even though I’ve corrected it over and over again. It tells me they don’t care and don’t want to make the effort. It’s in my email, my email signature, on my profile, etc. How hard is it to look it up and spell it correctly?!
