Currently interviewing with Facebook (Meta) and looking for advice from other Technical Recruiters that recently joined. I’d be leaving a great company after less than 1 year, but I’d get the chance to upgrade my leveling (perhaps even mgmt) with the bonus of getting experience at a FAANG company. I had a recruiter reach out to me from Google 3 years ago about a role she thought I would be good for. She really advocated for me to be in the role but the hiring managers didn’t feel like I was qualified.
We had a discussion and she gave me a lot of good feedback on how I could be a stronger candidate and encouraged me to reach out to her directly for future opportunities. Fast forward to now, I’ve gained a lot of experience and skills. Should I reach out even though it’s been 3 years?

Why? I love my firm, but why is MBB an important stop on this journey?
Will second my BCG counterparts as well

If your goal is to open your own shop no one is going to care about the branding.

The prestige difference between MBB and Big 4 is tiny except inside consulting and the industries that recruit a lot directly from the consulting pipeline. The difference between “I was a consultant” and “I was an MBB consultant” to most people outside consulting is minuscule — certainly not worth 5 years of your life.
It’s possible. But it would have to be some very specialized and niche skill set that the MBB practice is looking to further augment / build out. And you would have to make it through recruiting (cases etc)

MHA?
I think PhD and MD would be more useful degrees in the life science sector.
I think before opening shop MBB exposes you appropriately. I guess personal branding to leverage in a new space

If your MHA is from a top school, MBB isn’t going to make that much of a difference in the startup world. Obviously feel free to go for it if you think the experience will be valuable, but the experience you would gain working at an early stage startup or starting up your own company a few years earlier would be more relevant and valuable to what you’re trying to do imo.

You seem confused, OP
BCG is massively sold out. If you can do the work you’ll get an offer in 2 weeks for a start immediately.

Do you need to live near a BCG office, or are they relaxing that policy these days?
