My husband works in banking and has expressed that his job might be taken over by AI in the next couple years. Does anyone feel like AI could ever replace what we do?

Yes and yes

Well, speech therapy maybe not but who knows. I do think it is very plausible.

They tried that during Corona and we are living with the poor outcomes of remote learning so NO, AI will not replace what we do at our high school. Our students are relationship-based, Title 1, and once they know you will do whatever it takes to help them succeed they are on board. AI will never take the place of that.

Yes.

The students I work with would hit the computer, knock it off the table, tip it over, and possibly bite it. So, no, I think my job is safe for the next few years at least.

I feel like we’re changing tools on every engagement and I’m always burning through trainings trying to master one only to keep it swapped for something else. Any recommendations for books/trainings to help my understanding of the underlying methods of data science instead of just learning the tools?

What IEP software/web service does your district use? My district has been converting from SEAS Achieve to SEAS Attain this year, but I’m curious about what else is out there.

I keep being told what I have to do, but no one will show me how to do it. Be very careful how you word IEP’s without being given. The wording. I have been here 2 years as an intern. Now, with 3 weeks to go, I find out the name of the support person? I was never given training and my intern support person never met with me. Not even once! I’m not being hired back because I don’t know how to do what I was never trained on.

HELP! 30+ years of teaching Sped and I’m at a loss. 6th grade student in Middle School with Doose syndrome. Prior to MS, the elementary said he never caused problems. Since the 1st day, he is disruptive in class, refuses to work, and is disrespectful. He has a one-on-one para but she is in tears most days because of his behavior. Parents agreed with a behavior plan - he thinks it’s a game. Parents say he is not allowed to be this way at home.

I love my job in special education, the job may bring quite a bit of stress and exhaustion but nothing compares to the stress of the related service team. OT, PT, speech, BCBA, social worker, etc etc is really what’s killing me this year. It is 23 days into the school year and the team members all make different plans and as a result, nothing is being accomplished. And if paraprofessionals follow ie what OT says but not PT, it cause so much unnecessary conflict!
