company is service based company.
my current title is senior analyst but they want to make me manager.
they are skipping tech lead and team lead positions.
they are ready to change 5 days working from earlier 6 days working.
they are asking me my expectations.
we are on client location and there is no one above us. Also team is not technically sound.FSS

Few options I guess. First, get them a therapist. Second, overwork at the beginning to prove yourself. Third, go out and get drunk with them.
YMMV.
I had a somewhat similar situation as far as disappointed/untrusting client and didn’t expect anything from me because the last person was awful. They were still getting rid of that person when I started then I took over their role(that was the initial intent of bringing me on board to the project). I completely took advantage of the very low expectations and ran with it. I completed a prototype in less than a week when the last person had nearly 6 months and did nothing. They were completely shocked at how fast I produced my work and I must say their response was very satisfying. I say do the same and use that. You can’t change what they went through and there’s no need to dig into what happened. Get the requirements and go be awesome! They’ll trust you once they SEE what you’re about but it’s all about your follow-through and commitment.
Nearly exact same situation and end result for me too. I ended up getting poached by the client with a promotion, big pay raise, and better WLB. OP is in an advantageous situation, especially if they’re looking to exit consulting
The short answer… how do you build trust with anyone?
A little bit longer.
Follow through on your commitments. Don’t over commit.
Any error, own it as soon as possible.
Id be very interested in knowing why they disappeared
I disappeared. Sounds like you are covering for me. Thanks!
When you work for firms that prioritize sales over delivery, trust is always an issue. You need to get them to trust YOU - they’ve already given up on your firm as a whole but they can still trust you as an exception.
Agree, it is a fool’s errand to take a project where the client now interviews all consultants because of the quality of previous consultants.
Say, Wow! That’s bad to hear. Were you paying him enough?
