Retire or start a business and work for yourself 😀
I’ve had micromanaging bosses before. Usually they back off after a while, they need to establish trust that you’ll follow their model of work and their preferences. Sometimes I prefer the micromanagement because if I do something on my own and it’s wrong, I’ll be fully blamed for it. It’s more difficult for that to happen when there’s a trail of conversations with a micromanager showing that they made you follow a wrong direction. Ideally though they’ll just be hands on for a few weeks and then forget about you for a while. They get tired of micromanaging if they see that you’re following their process.
100% this has been my experience too
My old company panty micromanage me. I told my direct boss, next I'm fired
Why is OPS second post not showing as the author?
I like the starting a business by yourself plan!
My boss went from micromanaging to particular about certain things. It took a while for even that. I was able to sit down with them months into the job and talk about expectations, concerns they had, and just worked a lot with them on every little detail. It wasn’t perfect, but they did ease up a bit after that.
Some managers are just that toxic. Have you tried asking for regular check-ins so you don't get interrupted constantly? Your boss might like that and look forward to it vs micromanaging you. They are really seeking transparency. Be proactive with your updates and that may help as well.
