Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Fidelity Investments I joined FIL on 08th August 2022 and hence was eligible for appraisal but even after a good feedback, I was told that there is no increment in salary as well as bonus because of "Too Soon To Decide" rating. And this is being followed not just in our team but in whole FIL. This is the first time I am hearing such kind of thing and didn't found any thing like this on "HR Hub". So, if anyone of you know about this or have received similar gyan from Manager, please share your experience. Fidelity In

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

When I've been in that spot before I've usually said something like, “I’d love to learn more about the role and responsibilities first, but I’m open to a competitive offer based on the scope and market rates.” I'm always cautious to throw out a number first, especially if the job listing didn't offer a salary range.
Love this. Thank you!
Ask them what the range for the role is.
They said they are still determining the range which is a be ehhh unhelpful answer lol
I would say I’m definitely open to have a salary conversation. Do you mind sharing what the salary range is for this position?. And if they give you the runaround, you might want to run yourself.
As long as you have the job title, do you really need the job description to know what range to ask for? I guess there's a possibility the description will include significant additional work you'd need higher pay to justify accepting, but in the unlikely event that happens, you still have the chance to negotiate any offer you receive. I'd just give a number slightly above the average in my area and go from there.
Very true - thank you!
I work in recruiting and what I typically do is say “the range starts at X amount, but goes higher based on your experience. Does that work for you?” I don’t want to waste their time in this job market. They shouldn’t be even talking to people if they don’t have a full job description ready - how would they know what to hire for?
If salary is important. Tell them what you want. It’s that simple. Word salad is what limits you
Tell them what you go rt after taxes
I always respond with "what is the range for the role that you think I might be a good fit for?" And then based on what their answer is I will tell them whether or not my salary expectations fall within their range. I try to avoid giving them a number.
