My supervisor gets visibly annoyed when we leave work at 5 o'clock. Now, 5 o'clock is when the day ends, so I thought that meant I could leave at 5. But today, he pulled us in for a late afternoon emergency meeting. He went into a 45 minute rant about how clock watchers are ruining the company's culture. I'm salaried and I'm not getting paid after 5, should I really be expected to stay and keep working?

About to turn down a job offer that would nearly double my salary after speaking to several former associates of the firm and hearing some not so great things. The word “sweatshop” was used multiple times yet I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. This is truly “you can’t pay me enough to be part of that” in action. I’ve tried to figure out when to come and go based upon when the partners arrive and leave, but their schedules are very inconsistent. The other associates don’t have helpful guidance for me.
