Need advice. I work in-house for an insurance company. I service the claims department. I report to the head of global claims. There are 2 other lawyers that service the underwriters for the same line, but they report to the head of legal. Yesterday, a new role with my title was posted. There is meaningful overlap of the duties, experience level, and knowledge required. The new role would report to the head of legal. The salary range posted is higher than my base salary.

I’m entering salary negotiations at a Fortune 500 company and am looking for trustworthy resources for salary data that I can share with the company if they ask where I got my numbers. I know Glassdoor, but what else?

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

Considering trying to make a pivot. Currently a prosecutor. I have a lot of trial experience and did some ID work.
