I’m a big fan of Square Space. So easy, a writer can do it!
Just think of it as your portfolio and approach it in that way. You don't have to see it as having a separate format just because it's called a book. Use the tools your comfortable with - I believe you can do almost anything on Canva. And use simple designs and minimal colors so more of the focus is on the content. That doesn't mean you can't make it special with design styles that make it YOU.
If you’re first starting out check out squarespace. It’s the easiest to use and you can keep it simple, a thumbnail to the work. Check out moderncopywriter.com for book inspo too. Lots of writer books.
I used Canva for free and loved it! Then got a free website from GoDaddy, and I'm all set. My portfolio link is now on my resume. Easy peasy : )
Squarespace, Wix or Cargocollective are where most of the creatives I know have their portfolios hosted.
Apart from the work itself, I’d say just make sure your website feels like it’s an introduction to you as a person! Who are you? When you’re a junior, folks are hiring you more for your point of view than your work per se, so introduce yourself!
I’d look at other books on http://moderncopywriter.com/ to get a sense of how people are talking about themselves and laying their work out.
In addition to your ad work, show us what you do. Do you paint? Have a tab for your paintings. If you’re a poet, post some of your poems on there. Show how well rounded and interesting you are outside of advertising.
Use squarespace. Check out other creatives book for inspiration. The design of your site is just as good an opportunity to show your creativity as the work in it. As a junior, cool personal projects are a good way to bolster your book.
