Just because you stick around doesn't mean you'll make partner
EY6 - Thank you. I appreciate that; but I am a "senior" partner. I am in my 12th year now as a partner...one of the people around the office with greying hair already!?!
Really haha...I'm still a senior so I'm really curious to know if this is worth sticking around
Wow so wait for 15 years to become a partner and then again 10 years to earn a good pay
So that the kids can enjoy a nice lifestyle
Ey 5 - 2 as staff, 3 as senior, minimum 3 as manager, at least 5-6 as senior manager ...comes to approx 15...that's what I have seen in my practice
OP - very possible to make it faster than 15. Depends on your ability and business need. Someone who is constantly rated a 5 can make it much faster. However it is not something you wait for. You certainly work for it. In my opinion however it is worth it. Is it still a hard job - absolutely. Do you work really hard to get there - absolutely. Are there aspects about PA that truly suck - absolutely. However, when you consider that the average family of 4 in America makes something around $60K and you need $380K of income to put you in the 1% - it is not a bad life. The job does pay very well. It affords you flexibility and at least at EY we also work to give back to the community. Plus we have a great Pension too at the firm. That is something very few other jobs have. EY6 - you may doubt it, but as a partner I know the starting comp. I also know what I started at. I also know that you may not have full information as to how it works; a brand new partner may be paid out for their first year at say $250-280K. However with their 1st year end distribution of say $70-$100K they make all in for their first year around $350K. There is a push to get partners 1-5 up to the average partner salary faster. So they often get generous Year-end distributions. If you are also a 5 rated partner you make more money.
Probably 350 but ramps up quickly from there
If u have to ask then prolly u aint there yet😜😛
Same across the firm for all new partners.
Zero. Partners don't make a "salary."
It depends on how much blood you have on your hands from stabbing your teammates and the specialists you work with in the back over 'realistic budgets'. Bloodier the better.
Brand new partners make around $350K. It is not the year 1 money that you stick around to make. It is that after 10-12 years or so as a good partner in the NER you are making $1M+ and at EY there is a good pension. You have great flexibility and it all afford you a really good life.
EYOP - if you are going to "wait" for 15 years you are not partner material. It also doesn't take 15 years to make partner. Please also let me know other jobs that pay you $1M+ by your mid 40s and have a real pension.
I highly doubt 1st year is making 350k. Probably 300k.
EY5 - thanks for clarifying. And belated congrats on your promotion to partner!
