I thought I really wanted to be a chemical engineer but the reality of the day to day has been disappointing to say the least… is this a common sentiment for a first job? Do I just have to keep going to get somewhere interesting?

I’m intrigued but I want to know 2 things:
1. Culture/WLB - how is it?
2. Realistic market opportunity/opportunity to crush quota (obv dependent on many things)

Background: Currently making 95k/160k OTE at a boutique research and consulting firm. I’m happy but we’re extremely flat with little to no opp for promotion in the next 2+ years.

Team just applied for a TS Clearance (defense agency). Trying to assess if it makes sense to wait till the clearance comes through (6 months to a year?) before I job hop. I'm hoping to get some clarity on the following:
1. Can my company withdraw or cancel my clearance if I leave right after I secure a TS?
2. In terms of compensation, how much value (% compensation) does a TS clearance have in the DC area? Places I'm considering: AWS, Azure, GCP, Data bricks, Appian etc.

Any one make a move from fund admin after big 4 assurance and then was able to make a pivot to a PE fund accounting team? I am considering moving to a fund admin now. Have 9+ years of big four experience. Worried that I can get stuck in fund admin. But I have interviewed at several big name pe shops and make a few rounds on interviews but then get the same feedback that they are worried about my lack of operational experience.

I think I’ve landed a once in a lifetime opportunity and can swing the pay cut since I have no student debt. Thoughts?

Is it better to quit or get laid off? I know what to look for when being pushed out and with a combination of the work I don’t have and the work the firm seemingly doesn’t have, it just feels like a mess. I’ll note I have other job offers lined up because I felt uneasy here for a bit.

I am a Chartered accountant and truth be told given the current times CA is a really low incentive education any potent person can get. Today I see engineers barely with a few years of experience earning lakhs per month. Whereas me despite being in the right place at the right time is working hard 10-11 hours each day even today. Tampa lawyers who work downtown: where do you live? If something is filed with the court, and service is provided automatically thru the portal, why does OC’s office send a separate e-service email? I understand with a PFS and Roggs — but for regular filings such as notices and motions I don’t need the document twice. I got it thru the portal. Am I wrong? Am I getting annoyed for no reason?

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/advice on the following - if a motion to vacate final default judgment based upon improper service is denied, can a subsequent motion to vacate based upon excusable neglect then be filed? Or at that point just pay the judgment?
