Any one make a move from fund admin after big 4 assurance and then was able to make a pivot to a PE fund accounting team? I am considering moving to a fund admin now. Have 9+ years of big four experience. Worried that I can get stuck in fund admin. But I have interviewed at several big name pe shops and make a few rounds on interviews but then get the same feedback that they are worried about my lack of operational experience.

I don’t have that experience to tell you first hand but I know we have hired into our fund accounting team from various fund admins so it’s not unlikely. But I am not part of that team so can’t say exactly what type of experience those people had.

If I really don't like consulting and have 0 interest in doing the partner track, does it make sense to take a job at another big 4 firm for a $50k raise and title bump to M for a year or two and then jump to industry or should I get out now before I golden handcuff myself to consulting (I've been searching for jobs for 5 months now and usually end when they hear what I want as a base comp of ~200k).

Do others have stories of trying to get out but failing?

Currently have 10 YoE and a MBA.

I feel like I want to spend my first year becoming more tax technical and building up my management skills. Then consider asking my coach about partner potential.
