We have a mid level team that makes $95 and they haven’t done anything monumental for the agency, just negotiated well. People shying away from money discussions is nonsense. I’m a junior and when it comes time to negotiate my promotion (hot damn, I hope it’s soon) I now have a reference point to base my pay increase off of.

Damn they got $95k jumping from junior to mid?
Agree! Just to create division and jealousy among employees and make us fight each other.
Let’s throw down! 🤣

Senior ADs in NYC should be earning $100 - $120k... ACDs, $135 - $150k... $CDs, $160 - $200 (or more)
as a senior? damn. proud of u.
Share share share. The only entity that benefits from silence is the company. I can assure you, salary bands are not necessarily representative. And for women and BIPOC, open conversations about salary are the ONLY way you'll know and get what you deserve.
bad look...

Co-sign. I’ve been discussing my salary openly with my ad friends since day 1.
I tried and told a few people on my team my salary. You know, ya open up and hope they’ll do the same. Nope! No one else shared. I know I make the least amount, so maybe they are afraid to piss me off.
You should make what you’re worth. Too many factors come into play to say just because we are both senior copywriters we should make the same money. Have you won as many awards? Have you won as much new business as me? Do you consistently present breakthrough work on every brief? Do you have the same skill sets and client relationships? Same years in the business? If no, you aren’t getting the same money as me. But for transparency, when I was a senior CW I made over 200k.

What about a junior at $60k jumping to mid in NYC? Is it unrealistic to ask for $80k if you know another mid is making that?
but that doesn’t really matter because chances are I don’t work with you. Again I believe this would only really work as open conversation between people in like departments at your work.
How much does a AD make in pharma?
Put it up anonymously. Best of both worlds.
i got a question. my partner and did just this. now how do i use it? my partner is a senior AD and makes $95k. I am mid-level and just got told i will be getting a promotion (to senior natch). i make 60k. what do i ask for?
yeah, i dont resent them certainly. and they have 2 years more experience. but the gap is a little shocking, especially as i make the jump. i've been told i'm looked to as a leader in the office, i sit on the DEI committee, i jump on pitches and raise my hand often and work with other offices when asked. finally the work is good and i've built strong relationships with the clients.
it isn't about money. but i do feel grossly underpaid.
for reference, i have 4 years experience in the industry.

Keep in touch with your ad school friends and share info along the way.
I am NYC based just shy of 5 years of experience...where should I be with my salary at this point?! I feel so lost lol
