"Massive Bonus" and EY are not compatible
YOU RECIEVED A 45K BONUS?!?
How massive was bonus
How many years have you been a senior and what was the reason given as to why you’re not ready?
So typical promotion to manager in Advisory is after 3 years with 4 becoming the norm; 2 is considered early and rarely happens. So if you have been a senior 2-3 years, you’re on track timing wise.
If you’re going into your 3rd year as a senior this year, then this would be the first year you would get considered. I would have a frank conversation with your counselor and partner, saying you would really like to make it this year and align on specific things you need to do to get there with regular checkpoints to track against them.
Time to jump ship - if you don’t feel the appreciate you enough to give you the promotion, others will!
Time to bounce.
2-3 years , muddied reason
There’s a lot of information missing here for anyone to provide feedback - what level senior are you now (FY19)? What was the muddled feedback they gave you?
As P1 noted, most seniors aren’t even considered for manager until completion of your 3rd year as a senior... to expect to be promoted after 1-2 years, making this a second “pass over” for manager isn’t very reasonable.
Do you feel you’ve demonstrated managerial qualities - engagement leadership, bd/sales, internal efforts - and had peer reviewers able to speak to those qualities?
I decided a $45k bonus . In a specialist group
