First, I feel for you. That workload sounds unsustainable.
Second, sounds like exhaustion/burnout.
Sounds like you need a real vacation and I hope you get it.
Thank you - it definitely sounds like burnout. Planning a long international one in a few months hopefully I can get the vacation soon.
I have not felt this way for a long time, if ever. I slept 7 hours both nights (more than usual 6-6.5) but woke up feeling exhausted, couldn’t get any work done and overall had no motivation.
I take 15 mg XR Adderall and that wasn’t working very much either.
Is this just major exhaustion?
I don’t feel like I’m doing that well either despite the high hours bc I’m balancing different work (including my own clients) and the partner whose I should be focusing on was annoyed bc I didn’t manage a project he thought I’d play a larger role in.
Apologies for the rambling post. Just looking for some feedback/reinforcement/advice.

I think you’re being hard on yourself (as we adhd’ers tend to do). You commented on my post and mentioned you have a toddler, which undoubtedly adds to the stress. It sounds like you’re either burned out, or headed there. I would suggest checking in with your mind and body and really asking yourself - what do I need? Then do whatever it takes to get the space to take care of yourself. Maybe it’s a self care day involving the gym, journaling, massage, facial, whatever self care looks like to you, with your phone off. This is short term thought, maybe you also need a vacation relatively soon.
Not having a weekend off in 4 months especially sounds brutal. Can you do a massive brain dump of everything that needs to get done today, then delegate as much as possible? And if it absolutely needs to get done, does it REALLY have to get done? Like is the client going to lose their shit if they don’t get it? If not, save it for next week. After triaging, make a plan for Monday, and take the rest of the day and weekend off. If you need to let others know you had a sudden personal emergency and will need to take the day, they will (hopefully) respect that, but you don’t owe anyone an explanation.
I think a lot of our stress comes from the insurmountable pressure we put on ourselves, but we’re human and we can’t do our best work if we don’t take time for ourselves!
Sorry to be sappy, but the post about the person who has kids and got cancer recently really spoke to me. Life is too short to lose our joy and health to a job. Yes it’s important and it’s necessary, but our mental and physical health are so much more important.
Sending you love and light and I hope you can find a way to make yourself a priority, because you really deserve it. You are doing great bc you’re doing your best.
Really appreciate the reply. I’m the dad and my wife is killing it with the little one but it’s still tough. I’m going to try to put some of your suggestions to practice. I know I need to do it but sometimes need to read it to get that kick in the butt. Thank you again!
