I will piggyback on everyone who said WWP. They got me up to 100% from 20%. Legit changed my life.
First call/contact the VA and put in your intent to file NOW that way whenever you do file and your decision comes back at whatever rating, your pay is retroactive from the day you filed your intent. At least this was the case when I did it a few years back
.
Wounded warrior project has amazing VSO's highly recommend
If you need to ask you probably don’t need it. Tough love in the veteran bowl, sorry.
Another function of FB and this bowl is refinement through discourse.
I obviously have some things I still need to work through since leaving the military after multiple combat deployments and all that comes with raising a family of 6 through that.
Do I get bitter and frustrated based off that, yes.
Does that make it right, no.
Did the VA recognize that through the claim process with support of the procedural artifacts the military and others provided me with to support any potential claims because of my service, yes.
Going through the claims process is a conscious choice that not only is expensive for the country we fought for, but it is a process long and rift with inefficiency.
Some of those inefficiencies are a direct result of people jamming the system with things they believe they are entitled to.
Perhaps the next time someone fires off an ill prepared/advised claim because no one (or someone) from FB told them what to do, they will think twice and really stew on if this is worth the resources it will take just to figure out what the heck they’re asking for rather than free up resources for the speedy and appropriate resolution to someone who is in real need.
To that point, I can do better and thank you for calling me on that and I’m sure the OP is the exception to my crabbiness.
TLDR; disabled veteran who struggles daily, can be a real ass sometimes but would appreciate if everyone would try their best first utilizing the process and procedures that were provided by tax dollars

Google VSOs in your city, I’ve had a lot of friends have great experiences with wounded warrior. I did not use them, used the Texas state vso and it was okay.
Basically walk into one of the above orgs and they’ll hand hold you through the entire process, up to and including filling out the paperwork with you, it’s great.

After that just check the mail every few weeks and show up to the appointments and wait from there.
VFW helped me (for free) with mine and I’d highly recommend
Google VSO in your area for sure
It will take a while so prepare to be patient
It will take 60 to 90 days to get an answer after your medical evaluation
