I just made SM and fear that very much now. However I'm single and have some money saved up. Push come to shove, I'll probably travel the world for a year and then look for another country to work in. As much as I love india, it's not a place I can see myself living in long term.
All my savings are in India, so Im ready to pack up and go home anytime they kick me out. No place like home 🤘
I think I rubbed off the wrong way on some people at that company. So much that they fired me immediately after I returned from a FMLA from India as my mom was sick. It was 2012. Never want to work for those mofos again.
Love the attitude here here and I share similar feelings of packing up and going back as I have been fired on H1B previously. Luckily, I hustled hard and got many offers within 20 days. USCIS doesn't receive any firing information for months so as long as you get your H1 transfered within couple months you are good to go!
That's always a nightmare, especially when I move from being single to married. If the family is understanding, I got no qualms liquidating and getting back. That does mean staying jobless and living out of savings account. While it's no end of the world, its going to hit hard
Well I don't think there's much of an option here than to go back to our home country if we get canned on a work visa.
You could move onto a student visa
D2: when you were fired last time, was it performance related or something else. And what year was it?
@e4 same here- I have been directing all my funds to india.

Are all of you against buying a house here as well?
D2, what company fired you ?
^ I am against it. But I am also against 401k as well which might not be a popular idea. But buying a house doesn't make sense me. 2 reasons, It comes with so much overhead backyard, pool, roof, keep upgrading and filling those humongous rooms with stuffs. Main reason , why would I invest money while on the work visa. If the country does not invest in my future why should I. I am on a work visa, pay my taxes, take all the cash I can and don't get attached to the system
