Crying about 150k while I cant get work anywhere because non citizens have ALL the jobs
Not a pay cut at all. You’re getting it all on the backend. Health benefits can be crucial if you have an unexpected situation. 401k match is future money, unpaid overtime is illegal, and most importantly of all, the mental benefits of not dealing with a boss like that is immeasurable.
Better mental health, health insurance, investment in your retirement and only doing one job is worth the pay cut.
In a similar situation, though the pay cut wouldn’t be as drastic, maybe 15-20%.
Do you have a family to support? What are the medical premiums? Can your lifestyle absorb the paycut?
The structure and fresh start can be a huge help to your mental health, but remember you wont know the new boss’s personality off the bat either. Not to mention ambiguous roles also add stress, with it being newly created it’s also a potential role to be cut during layoffs. Retirement savings are nice since they’ll help your tax burden too. Gotta calculate what will be your best scenario for the most take home.
I’m learning the hard way that I can’t work at startups, I need the structure of an established company. Grass isn’t always greener, but if it adds a bit more peace of mind, it may be worth exploring. Good luck!
How much do you actually use/need your healthcare? I would hold out for more than $100k personally. I'm sure you can find it at your level. A $50k paycut is substantial.
That's cute... try being a truck driver
I'd say it's a wash, benefits eat 33,%if my check

A paycut is definitely worth it for less stress. How much are you currently paying for health insurance, maybe it will be less than 33% cut. Can you afford to take that level of cut in pay? If so, give it a try.
