One of the wildest shifts I had at a call centre was when the phones just stopped ringing. At first, we were like, “Nice, no queue!” But then 5 minutes passed then 20 and the timer kept climbing, and that’s when we knew something was off.

Phone lines were completely down for almost two hours. First time it happened in my 3 years there. No calls in or out, just all of us sitting there like, “Soo now what?” Quietest chaos ever. Felt like a random snow day at work.

Ever had a shift like that?

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.

At a different job I had a customer trying to swindle me in telling me that there was a deal in an item that never had a deal or promotion for sale so he made me scan the item 20 times before believing me. Obviously, he finally let it go but I scan it with an inventory scanner that showed me all of the sale price promotions if there were any

I had customers tell me how amazing the salads I make for them. It’s great that I can make salads that good!

Someone came in and ordered 60 bacon double cheeseburgers… my crew thought I was kidding. 😅
