The areas more inland by Miramar and Poway are redder and the communities on the coast in city limits are pretty blue
Downtown is the worst. Pacific beach is where most of the early 20s people live. Ocean beach, and s lot of the neighborhoods north of downtown (north Park, Hillcrest etc) have a lot of late 20s /early 30s. And Solana beach/Encinitas/Carlsbad are great.
Yup. Lived there six years, agree 100%.
San Diego had no 30s single scene when I lived there a few years ago. It’s a surprisingly conservative, non-cosmopolitan town, full of retirees and young families. It was not my vibe, though I know tons of people who love it there.
No 30 scene? Come live in little Italy, it’s basically all young professionals in their late 20s and 30s and it’s poppin’.

What about around UTC? With UCSD up there it’s a pretty lively area. Lots of good restaurants between 5 and 805 on La Jolla Village Dr. Plus quick access to Del Mar and La Jolla, and quicker access to SAN airport/downtown/PB/etc. than if you lived in North County
Los Angeles.
It’s got way more homeless, traffic is intense, and it’s expensive.
But once you get to know the area better and can maneuver your way around, you will love it here. Will never run out of things to do.
I already acknowledged the homeless issue in my post above.
There are several parts of Culver City itself where you won’t get to “see the homeless everyday”. Not that every homeless individual is having a psychiatric crisis or is drugged up either, so no need to turn up your nose at them collectively.
Brings me back to the point of getting to know the area well.

You’re looking for chicago Austin or NYC.
Chicago isn't known for heat or forest fires. Freezing? Guilty.

My family and I live in north county and love it. It’s much more family oriented though. OB and PB are really good for younger singles. San Diego is hard to beat in CA. Encinitas is actually getting a little better for younger folks. Still nothing like Chicago or NYC

I once saw a guy getting himself off laying on the sidewalk in gas lamp district. No lie. People just walking by like it was normal. But you can find some awesome places outside the city in the beach cities. Pacific beach is a cool spot and it’s close to the city
Friend lived in Del Mar and it was a lot of
Old money. I think my friends grandpa founded a bunch of gyms in texas like in 70s lol
Seriously gaslamp is trash, but litte Italy os exactly what you’re looking for (I’m single m, 31, and living my best life)
Also north county is not a place for a young single man.
