Loved my time in Jax 10 years ago. Lived in Riverside but If I had to do it all over again, I’d pick Ponte Vedra or St. Augustine and stay close to the beaches.
To your question - there’s a ton of payers and Florida Blue is the big one - their HQ in Jax. Rest I’d imagine would be more MA focused payers.
If you’re looking to branch out of payer and stay in LSHC - look at J&J - solid presence there.
If you are a person of color, do not move to Jacksonville. Jacksonville PD has disproportionally high racial profiling issues compared to other Florida cities.
If not a person of color, don’t move to Jacksonville the city is quite ugly, poor urban planning, double the crime rate of Tampa and Orlando, and overall has a horrible nightlife overall.
The only pro of Jacksonville, is that it is one of the cheapest large cities in Florida. The tradeoff is that you pay for that with an overall lower quality of life.
Most of Florida’s cities have relatively easy beach access (within 30 minutes). If you are being offered a lot of money to move there. There is a reason, they need to because Jacksonvile is below average city to live.
If you’re moving to Jacksonville, check out St. Augustine while you’re down there. I lived in Jacksonville for 3 years.
Unfortunately, I can confirm the rampant racism. I noticed it was worse inland than towards the beach. I also felt like there was nothing to do there and sleepy to the point of being stifling. And I was coming from Cleveland Ohio.
Been quite a while since I lived there so YMMV, but I wouldn’t recommend it

Pretty redneck there. Would be a hard pass for me.
