Hi Team,
Hope you guys are doing well. I am planning to join Kyndryl on band 7b for cybersecurity domain. Want to know how is the environment there in terms of job security, wlb and hike? There are mixed reviews all over the places reg Kyndryl so posting here to get insight form you.Kyndryl Inc.
Also anything else you would like to add is good for me to decide as I have to choose between Accenture and Kyndryl (I was with Accenture and know what I will be getting and work there).

Lol first world problems. I survive fine with $48 per day. You don't need to get drinks and apps with every meal...
D2 I think it keeps it simple. Different people have different eating habits - per diems average that out and give the decision making back to the individual.
If it was expenses based the incentive structure there is to max it out
This is a hilarious post
not sure if you realize that you can actually spend your own $ on food if per diem is not enough. Also, you could still go to Morton’s one night a week and still break even. Learn how to budget
I usually go to Subway because I would rather see a Broadway play.
Just like Unlimited PTO. It's not about flexibility and WLB. It's about not having to pay for unused PTO when an employee leaves and not giving employees agency to take 2 weeks of during Christmas because PTO is expiring since you overworked them all year.
1st world problems much

@OP if you are frustrated by per diems, you need to just go ahead and quit. You are only going to find more frustrations as you stay here longer.
Also if you feel ethically uncomfortable with keeping per diem that you haven’t used (assuming that ever happens given your high dollar eating habits and numerous complaints), no one is making you claim all of it
Dear friends that get to claim per diems instead of actuals.... Shush
@OP I think you are missing the primary benefit of a per diem setup.
It <shock horror>saves you from doing expenses! If you have to hold on to every receipt, track them all down on expense day, and spend multiple hours doing expenses every month, often in YOUR OWN TIME, then you'll quickly long to have a per diem instead.
I, for one, would value the time and effort saved more than the amount of money saved on beer. Now I may be biased because I've never lived on a per diem before, and rarely partake of malty beverages, so YMMV
@OP No I wouldn't use the same argument because that's not the question you posed.
Just going by the general responses on this thread, most folks would be fine with $50 per day for dining. If your question had been around $150 hotel limit for NYC, then perhaps more ppl would be inclined to agree. Note that these two expenses are also fundamentally different, not just because of relative amounts but because whatever you've paid for accommodation in your home base is a sunk cost, whereas dining is a transferable cost.
Actually as mentioned, I've only dealt with the 'reasonable expenses' system. But having had to cope with all the additional administrative work and having to spend hours persuading the finance team of allowing slightly unusual but legitimate expenses (e.g. courier fees for business documents - why didn't you just use the client's printer?). I'd be more than happy to go with a per diem.
Y’all entitled as hell!!!! You mean to tell me if you weren’t traveling you spend more than $45 a day on food?
That’s a lot....
I try to grocery shop and save half of my per diem. Plus free breakfast.
That leftover per diem pays student loans
I also go to the grocery store when I can to save money and eat more closely to what I would eat at home. I have been traveling for 15 years and still do it when I can.
OP, totally agree. One of the best parts moving to Deloitte is not having to worry about nickel and diming myself on every meal.
OP, I agree with you, that was my biggest gripe when I was at ACN, I was paying $20 more than the per diem per day on an average to have a respectable meal. The folks surviving on less than $45/day have as much self respect as the homeless guy rummaging through a garbage can.
You are a consultant for fck sake, not the queen of England. An average meal does not even cost $20 for most places
Lol this is absurd. $5-$7 on breakfast. Lunch isn’t more than $10-$12. Still PLENTY left over. Control your spending.
The only valid point brought up in regards to increasing per diem above $50 was about wanting to go to dinner/do things with coworkers. I’m on a Sun-Fri project with ~$62 per diem and I can tell you right now that being able to afford dinner out with team mates/go out and do fun activities is the only thing that’s kept our team sane being on the road so much. It’s so important for teams to connect offline and actually get to know each other in a non-work type of way, and I can imagine if your per diem is on the lower side, subsequently discouraging others from wanting to go out and do things, that could take away from your experience on the project. Yes, I know we are all employed to serve the client and do our best work, but some of my favorite memories have been spent around a dinner table or doing something random with teammates that have fortunately become very good friends.
Couldn’t agree more. I was on a three-month assignment in Richardson Texas and it’s what kept us sane
Per diem with firms that use the GSA rate = good
Per diem with Accenture's peasanty rates = bad
Go to join the industry. Sleep and eat at home. No per diem though. See in which scenario you pay less for food.
Get a hotel with free breakfast. Eat a small lunch and chipotle for dinner...15 bucks for the day...
This thread really is the gift that keeps on giving. Namaste all, whether you’re eating Chipotle or Kobe beef tonight ✌🏼
Some might say it’s beneath the dignity of your position even
Damn you people need to cut down your eating!!
Cut down on the alcohol folks. I’m in better shape than I was in college.
OP: first, in most cities it's less than that. I make do just fine with $45/day. I pick hotels with executive club for free breakfast, sandwiches or salad for lunch $10, that leaves me $35 for dinner which covers most mid-tier restaurants.
Hotel restaurants are typically overpriced and low quality anyway.
Would I like it to be better? yes. is it the end of the world? no
Cool down OP. I did work for a big tech company, did plenty of business travel and we didn't had per-diam - just expense what you eat within reason. Fancy meals in Michelin star restaurants were with clients, but otherwise plenty of good quality healthy food and still averaged way under $45. Yes, I did not drink every single night. Saves money and your liver
Preach it
Problem is it makes most of the people I work with hermits. I love going out with others for dinner, but so few want to spend their per diem. Sad place this is.
Holy entitled
