Your numbers will lean heavily toward the bonus side if you’re bringing in big referrals yourself.
You're looking at the wrong metric. You need to look at whether as a whole you're getting paid at least 20% of the fees you collect.
20% that seems very low?
Fees generated by me last year were about $950,000 but I did not bring all of that in myself. About 400k of that was originated by me. Total compensation between bonus fringe and salary was about $250k with about 125 salary, 90 bonus and the balance to fringe benefits (auto, insurance, etc).
I think I am frustrated because there is no specific metric on what makes up the bonus as it’s completely discretionary. I wasn’t sure how those numbers stacked up to others?
