Are you parking on the street? If so, whatever you get is going to get trashed. That said, go with the Macan. Porsche build quality is better, especially compared to a C-class.
Yea, hard to justify a nice car like that in the city unless you garage it, at which point you may be spending an extra $300/month if you’re in a HCOL city. So you can spend all that extra $ or just get something cheaper and not be devastated when it gets scratched up in the street. I chose a top of the line GTI over something truly lux for that reason.

They’re two different cars, do you want a small SUV or a sedan? I had a similar choice between S4 and X3 M40, decided for costs, having a closed trunk and that I was a single person in the city to go with an S4. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either way, but choose the car type you actually want

I can answer your question halfway, OP. Have a macan, love it, mostly suburban driving, but have been loyal to the Porsche brand, so when I swap this, will likely be a macan again. Never considered Mercedes ever but that’s a personal choice thing. Let us know what you decide and good luck!

I have the AMG C43 and I love it. I’ve also had the AMG GLE.
Dual income, grown kids, and saved/invested well. I’m a services director in consulting. If it matters, we bought both used.

European is just paying for the name that's resting on its laurels at this point. If you want quality and better features for the price, the Asian luxury brands are a better value with much better warranties.
I scratched that itch and bought a c43 in a big city, with a garage. It’s fun and I keep it in great shape. I’ve also had a few flats and bent rims from potholes and it’s nearly impossible not to scratch the wheels with low profile performance tires. Keeping it in m great shape is both difficult and costly.
I’m a bit older now and see how impractical any expensive car is, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but if you’re hell bent on taking the plunge, know a c43 is a fun way to waste a lot of money.
