President Trump believes that DEI hiring played a part in last night’s plane crash. Thoughts? Personally I feel like regardless of who was in whatever position lives were lost, and this is completely insensitive.

Tasteless and almost definitely wrong. I'd think something like, oh, I don't know, there not being an acting FAA administrator in place because Elon Musk forced the old one out would be a far more likely culprit, but sure, let's pin this on the bogeyman that is DEI. 🙄🙄🙄

It’s who he is. It’s disgusting!

I completely agree—it’s incredibly insensitive to use a tragedy to push a political agenda. Lives were lost, and that should be the focus. Blaming DEI without evidence just fuels division instead of addressing real safety concerns. We should be having conversations based on facts, not rhetoric.

like

I guess I've become cynical because as soon as I became aware of the news last night I knew the tragedy would be turned into a weapon by the Trump crew. I honestly said to someone late last night that you could already write the script and it would somehow be blamed on DEI. It's just shocking, yet somehow not surprising, that Trump would come out the morning after a plane crash and carry on like that. But, it's who he is, and I'll give him credit for one thing, he understands what excites his followers.

We have a leader in the US that shoots first and asks questions later. While his comments make for good "news sound bites," they are often made before thinking. Give him 48 hours and we will have a different outrageous comment to fixate on. This will be our roller coaster ride for the next 4 years.

like

I think during times like these its very easy to look for someone or something to blame. The fact of the matter is there were many lives lots and it is a tragedy. I don't think that diversity hiring had a thing to do with it, I think its an easy thing for him to point his finger at.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

I’m in an interesting dilemma. Very interested in leaving my company, but I am also going through IVF. I know most new jobs require a year wait before you can go on maternity leave. Does anyone know a great company to work for that does not require this? Obviously, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself, but if this works, I don’t want to accept a job and not be paid for maternity leave because I am doing this solo. Appreciate all the help!

I'm in desperate need of tips to get genuine buy in from our predominantly white, male senior leadership to create a more inclusive environment. As is often the case, middle management and below is very diverse and then at Director+ it gets much more homogeneous. So far any real initiatives get shot down in favor of performative actions to post on SM. Is this just how it is, or can we try something different?

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, The New Yorker released the transcript of a previously unpublished interview with James Baldwin, who gave a first-hand account of "Freedom Day 1963," a Black voter-registration drive in Selma, Alabama. Definitely took the wrong job. I was offered a seriously competitive salary and great benefits to work at a well funded startup, which is great! Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. Every single suggestion I've made has been shut down and I've been ghosted for several meetings with the CEO. What should I do? Just leave?
