Prob been asked but how do you best use Bonvoy points. Debating 60k/night in Iceland or saving up for 85k/night Ritz in Caymans (or something like that). Generally what level to spend the points?

The best bang for your buck is transferring Bonvoy points to airlines with the transfer bonus.

That said, when looking at hotel redemptions, they can still certainly be worthwhile. Compare the $ rates and try to keep your redemption above the point valuation (about 0.7 cents per point)

Yeah but comparing $ to point value is not the same as comparing my value to point value right?

More asking where can you get the best experience for fixed level of points?

My personal opinion on using point on Ritz Carltons is not to. If you stay at places like St Regis and JW Marriott, your status gets you access to lounge and lots of other perks. At RCs you are not getting access to the lounge, which from the reviews I have seen, is what makes RCs better than other hotels. For example, I stayed in the Hong Kong RC and it doesn’t even include breakfast, even as a titanium elite welcome gift. Note that the Tokyo RC did include breakfast

This is a great point

Every hotel in Iceland has delicious breakfast, so it's not so much of a perk there. But, hotels are super expensive. We went in September and paid around $300 USD per night even on discount sites.

It might be worth the redemption if the hotel is in the right spot, but I'd suggest picking locations based on sights rather than on the hotel chain. Big bonus: stay at the Frost and Fire guest house. Great Star gazing and sometimes northern lights viewing from a mineral hottub.

Don't bother with the ion adventure... Location is remote, onsite restaurant is expensive, and the geothermal pool often isn't warm. Not worth the points or money

If you redeem four nights, you get a fifth night free. I always try to use my points in a destination I plan on being for 5 nights

If you go to Grand Cayman stay at the Marriott or Westin better value and property is next to the Ritz

Save your points in a different country. Stayed at both marriotts in Iceland can say it’s not worth it. Despite how nice the hotel was, rooms were both extremely tiny. If I remember correctly as well, there are no suites at these properties
