Not 100% sure what question is here? But... compared to the us promotions are not as 'automatic'. Could spend 4 years at senior then get promoted. Could be 5 years as manager then get promoted. Fewer partners as well so I think much harder to get that promo over there.
Thanks @SM1. That's what I was looking for. US definitely seems more systematic in terms of promotions, and seemingly people moving from US to UK look at a potential step down in level..
If you are thinking of moving over there they have a capital markets group based in london which basically serves to be incremental review for uk based is issuers. Don't think you'd go down a level if you went into that group. I also didn't mean to imply you would go down a level - just promotion might take longer.
I was wondering about the capital market group as I have seen people move with no change in designation. Not too mention people with not much of relevant exposure to IFRS. I'm considering a move within audit itself, to build up the international experience, plus hands on exposure to IFRS and UK GAAP. I am moving down a level, but I think it's still a good move in terms of long term goals.
