Definitely be yourself, engage in the conversation, and ask relevant, appropriate questions
Step one: ask the interviewer about what kind of projects they work on.
Step two: talk about your experience that is in line with the interviewers projects
Step three: talk about your other experiences
The problem with consulting and assurance is that interviewers do different kinds of projects and recruiters just send candidates to whoever is available, and a lot of times the experience of Partenrs/SM/M (interviewer) does not match experience of candidates. That results in irrelevance and stupid people being hired.
I have experience in banking and Deloitte recruiters in the first round sent me to an insurance partner for interview and second round sent me to a trading systems partner. So recruiters don’t know what they’re doing.
Make sure you ask your interviewer about the kind of projects he or she does, you should be a 100% sure about it. You don’t want to be dinged for your experience not being relatable.
Ask good questions like what does it take to be successful at pwc. For example in my group contributing to the practice, being digital and delivering in client service are some key things
We are so desperate for people at the moment as long as you don’t drool you’ll be fine.
Just be relatable and you’re fine. They want someone they won’t mind being around but also someone who is seemingly intelligent, etc. Ask insightful questions and just be yourself and you’ll do fine. Good luck!! 🍀
Always a good experience with interviews at PwC. Not the firm for me today...but they are people. They really want to know if they can deal with you for 10 hours a day...you should try to figure out if you can deal with them for 10 hours a day.
