PwC PWC fish - what’s the salary range for a Senior Manager in Tech Consulting (maybe you call it advisory?)

Is PWC Senior Manager equivalent to Deloitte Manager?

Thanks!

Yeah not sure off that info alone it depends on city, group, and MBA. There may be a ballpark range in general tho (also I think the numbers I'm finding may be the bare minimum there are performance based raises/ pay bumps too) let me go check and I'll reply back.

Also not sure on the M to SM equivalence. I think I did hear SM is a newer position that was created in the last 10-15 years or so (I think before ppl just stayed M for longer)

helpfulfunny

SM was introduced 2 years ago.

Worth noting that there are skills-related allowances available in tech consulting that can increase your salary beyond the normal cohort level. I believe some of them stop applying at the Senior Manager level though so you’d need to check with your recruiter.

Hot skills is a sliding bonus until you get to D, where you don’t get any of it

Depends what city & MBA/ non MBA

How about the bonus structure for SM at pwc? And other significant benefits?

like

SAMC1, I like taking 2 international 2 weeks travels per year. Does it mean I shouldn’t join Pwc since I will not have time to use my pto?

$160-180k for tier 2 city. +10% for tier 1

Non-MBA experienced hire. 6-8 years of experience.

Big city but not NY/SF/Chicago

Yep I'm in Technology Consulting at PwC and really don't see the point of a masters and a lot of my managers feel the same it adds no value to your work other than maybe an extra 5-10k on your pay (doesn't seem worth it at all to me- and a lot of companies won't pay extra pwc just gives a little bump).

Only makes sense if you are trying to pivot to a completely new field and want credentials to back you (I have a director I'm close with and he got it bc he was a history undergraduate and while he was working in the field at entry level ppl would look just at his his degree and underpay him/ or pass him up higher level spots)

Senior Manager title at PwC is literally like four years old at this point

I was networking with a lot of ifs and tax/ assurance ppl back then so makes sense

like

Sr Manager was created 2ish years ago to align the US firm with levels in the other member firms around the globe.

We basically split the historical role/expected time as a Director into 2 - so SM is basically what was a more junior Director and the Director level was the more experienced Directors.

I was a D in Tech Consulting in Dallas at the time.

OP based on what you've shared, you can apply for the SM role, but you may get counter offered a Manager level. Most SMs have at least 10 yrs experience and have delivery as well as sales expectations. It's a hard role to step into from outside.

Thank you P4, really appreciate the insight.

It sounds like there’s not really a direct comparison for it at Deloitte. Our Managing Director role has roughly the same expectations as a Partner does, only difference is that they are non-equity in terms of comp structure.

There are more steps for us to get to SM, so someone on an extremely fast track might make it at 32-33, but the majority have closer to 15 years of experience.

I’m at 7 years of experience and will be promoted to M this year, so just trying to understand if it is even the right role for me to apply for.

Nope, I was a D in Dallas for PwC.

How much did you finally land on @ SM - Tier 3 City Houston/Austin/ Non MBA/Advisory? (like Base + Bonus + Joining Bonus) range. Do they offer any Niche Skill Bonus/Extra Pay?

I wanted to know it too since I am shooting for a similar role at Pwc.
