Anyone here from Investment Banking at Houlihan Lokey, Evercore or Lazard in London (UK)? I’m currently working in Corporate Finance M&A in GT UK. I’d want to move to one of these banks next year so would like to know about work culture, teams, opportunities, salaries and bonuses. Appreciate your kind help on this
Bain & Company Hi all, I am interested in making the move to the Middle East, however starting from august/September. What do you think are the prospects for the future in the region? Do you envisage a hiring freeze or are companies still going strong? Thanks!McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Kearney Bain & Company

I am honestly shocked at how B4 are considered in the US. In Europe it's the McDonald's of professional services, same for Accenture.
Nothing bad about it, but no prestige at all.
Pretty much any white collar job is going to pay less in nearly all of Europe than in the US. Even if you factor in healthcare costs the disparity is pretty big.
Healthcare costs are barely relevant on a consulting firm’s healthcare plan, which are very generous
Way more $$ to spend on professional services in the US. Global Fortune 100 is basically all US.
McKinsey retaliates!!! I am not scrutinizing the arguments for substance anymore but will continue to provide commentary.
Good luck everybody!!!
There's plenty of government and tax reasons businesses pass on less to employees in Europe.
I‘m aware of that. I was speaking of salary compared to alternatives within same country/continent. Also the reputation difference in the jobs
I would imagine here in Europe there's a much stricter split between audit and advisory and less opportunity to be a one-stop-shop. Big4 is not prestigious and it's a huge downgrade even from industry.
Even in the US tbh, it’s more of a mixed bag than you’re letting on. Big 4 pulls a few people from Ivy League calibre schools but then you also have teams where you can break in routinely from an online degree.
But the US is the only geo where they actually pay well. Even in Canada next door, pay is really bad.

The bar is pretty low here too. I graduated with my accounting degree, did something completely unrelated for three years and was still hired within 2 or 3 weeks of applying. Average gpa, state school.

I don’t think it’s just big 4..
Mbb/ t2/ IB /PE in the uk is all about half of what Americans make.
Not sure about the prestige point tho. If I were to guess it might be that US big4 does more management consulting work than in the UK.
I hate to point out the obvious, but per hour, Americans aren't compensated that highly for the 60 hour plus weeks. Europeans don’t operate like this for the most part.
Good point. The compensation is really in the exit though when you do it right. If you just look at comp versus hours worked at big 4 it’s probably quite bad for a US employee
