I’m on Talkiatry and it works for me.
Once you have your diagnosis and are stable on medication, your primary doctor can manage it from there.
Yes, I've been on stimulants for just as long and I don't use a psychiatrist anymore and haven't for some time. I manage my medication through my primary Dr instead and it has never been an issue. Just offering another alternative because I know the wait time for psychiatrists is long.
I've been using Done for years. I think it's called Mindful now? It's an online provider and they've been great about getting me medication quickly. You have to do an initial consultation, then once a treatment plan is decided upon, you get a month's worth of meds. Then you do one followup appointment to confirm it's working as expected, and if so, you're good for a year. The only weird thing is that you have to request a prescription refill each month, instead of having it handled automatically. Not a big deal, though - you just hit a button in an app, your provider typically approves same day, and you're good to go. The membership is like $69/month, which might be on the high side, but the convenience is hard to beat.
I had trouble getting the scheduled medications I need when I moved and tried using telehealth platforms, despite having very long prescription histories etc. I ended up needing to doctor shop for a primary care doc until I found one willing to prescribe my meds, in the interim months before I found a local pdoc. Urgent care places are much less likely to prescribe what we need. Regular family practices have better odds but are not guaranteed to be helpful. Every telehealth provider I tried wanted to put me on stuff that just flat out didn't work in the past, or refused, and/or wanted to push some kind of pointless talk therapy.
