I got a degree in art history and am now a senior backend engineer.
No I went to a 3 month bootcamp. It was pretty gruelling but well worth it.
I’ve definitely done the job hopping thing. I’ve worked retail, banking, as a paralegal, event planning, admissions at a seminary, and currently database management (which I fell into at the seminary due to a linear job change I was voluntold for). I’ve seen it as learning experiences, and have been able to use things I’ve learned across all the jobs. It’s also allowed me to meet some interesting people and have some great experiences!
Why struggle , why not just normal career changes and pivot. I suppose I’ve always considered it discovering new passions and learning
When I graduated high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to study but parents pushed me to get a degree so I could “get a job”. Been treading water ever since.
I have a master's degree in psychology and now I am a stay-at-home mom and just began doing some side jobs at home that have nothing to do with psychology. We all pivot and adapt to our needs and our family's needs. That's what I did, the family comes first before my job and I made sacrifices.
These days, it seems like everyone is chasing their dreams and passions and making significant changes in their career paths. Especially since the pandemic. I don't think it's necessarily an outcome of ADHD. Maybe you just haven't found that true passion yet. Nothing wrong with that. Keep pushing.
I feel like I jump a LOT...I get really bored after a year or so and have literally tried to force myself to stay in roles so I can try to grow. But to me, it's more of an interesting challenge to try new things!
I have been a job hopper since I could start working. I can never stay in one place too long and I get sooooo bored. I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
Yea I can understand that. It really is hard to move up any sort of career path when you are hopping around.
