What’s crazy is I’ve heard that some recruiters can make very good money. Not trying to be disrespectful, but if that’s true then it honestly feels like a field that you could really excel in without that much effort given how bad 50% of the group is.
Recruiters that specialize in senior level talent (where the money is made) are usually better. Many of the junior recruiters at firms like Charles Aris are terrible / not that professional.
Hiring managers are more likely to respond to cold outreach than recruiters plus I think hiring managers carry more weight in a referral. I also had a partner forward along my resume to a recruiter to set up an interview, recruiter asked for my availability, didn’t respond for 3 weeks, finally she sent me her email to schedule the interview and then responded a week later asking to talk within the hour. Something came up so I asked to reschedule, she agreed on a time and then missed the call. Luckily she got back to me and passed me onto the next round. Sometimes it feels like these recruiters are having trouble hiring people because they’re incompetent
I had a recruiter email me for my availability for a screener on Monday morning. I responded like an hour later. Still haven’t heard back, and I followed up this morning, too.
I hear ya, OP! Experiencing the same thing
