I worked in a assisted living for 14 months and I got to know all the residents and they always made my day when I had a bad day 😁
It taught me that most people don't work very hard and not not require a lot of skills to function in their line of work. It also taught me that there is a huge and misguided bias against hospitality employees. Probably because anyone who has to serve others gets looked down upon as if they are less than human. Most people in the hospitality business wear so many hats and do so many things quickly and that the average person can't handle it.
I absolutely agree with what you stated. It's very similar in many areas of retail. We get looked down upon within society. Since, these industries, don't generally require degrees. So, it receives very little respect.
Like I tell my employees you have to leave your bad day on the outside of the door and bring your best. Disney princess inside the store.
To humbly say the honest truth, the question sounds rather dated. The majority of people today more than likely, had some type of retail or hospitality experience. In regards to prior employment history. To try and comment on this question would make me feel very disconnected to what's going on within society today.
I’m gonna have to disagree with you there.
