Rising senior, anyone have any suggestions for an accounting book to read over prior to starting the position? Specifically looking to refine old material that I haven't seen since school

Reading an accounting book is a waste of time. Go read the audit program. It'll be more useful.

Wow y'all are trying way harder than I am

Don't group me in that overachiever category. My main strength as a senior was convincing the partner a bunch of procedures weren't necessary.

Audit program plus focusing on specials areas your client might focus on: inventory, investments, etc. if you're on public engagements, get ready for new rev rec standards

like

I'm not saying I'm doing all that but those are items you should be aware of if you're going to lead an engagement as a senior 1

I would suggest really learning GAM. Print out sections and get to know them really well. Knowing GAM really well as a senior 1 will help you for rest of career. It just makes so many problems you encounter easier to deal with. The one off technical stuff is usually learned on the job.

What sections specifically would you focus on

Read all PY reporting and the company's financials

this is a joke question right?

Honestly, you will need them all. Start with scope and strategy and work your way through

I spoke with a recruiter recently about a position in her company and before we even began talking about the job, she asked if I needed an sponsorship, I told her no, I dont need one. But she continued to press on the subject until I had to tell her I was a US citizen. I dont know why, but the whole conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. So my question is, can recruiters ask you about your visa/immigration status even when I told her I didnt need a sponsorship??

Hello, after doing some research I believe I’m being underpaid. About 4 months ago HR did a market analysis for my role. They bumped my salary for about $2k. I’m a mid-level Executive assistant with 6 years of experience and currently supporting 5 executives at a fortune 50 company. One C level and 4 Vice Presidents. I’m currently making $61,000 with bonus included. Based on my research I should at least be making $71,400. I have a check in with my boss tomorrow and I am asking for a raise.

Hi! Looking for personal branding/job seeking tips! I’ve been building Employer Branding into my role (and company) over the past 2 years, and finding it very rewarding. I come from content/recruitment marketing but beyond my recent EB projects I’ve studied EB and done certifications, and I’m interested in changing to a full-time EB specialist/manager role at a new organization. **What type of projects and skills should I highlight in my resume? Or how should I start? Thank you!!
