Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

It is too high tbh
Yes, that is way high for only 5 yoe
How do you get to 200k? How specialized is your experience or are you just typical audit? I can see 130-150k base and maybe 15-20% on bonus for a top candidate. Probably on the lower end.
Very high
Hahahaha
That’s obnoxiously high if you’re coming from audit/tax and looking at normal industry accounting-type jobs. Still pretty high if you’re coming from advisory but maybe doable if you’re looking for the more highly demanding strategic roles or finance oriented positions
Don’t pitch it as YOE but type of experience you have and the value of the skillsets you bring and how that benefits the next employer.
Unless you are in advisory, highly doubt that. I’m 6 YOE in Deal advisory big 4 and just closing in at 200k after bonus.
Well I’m at 135 base now and Uncle D gave out $35k retention. I’m in asset management and I see the payroll of these folks in finance and accounting making much more
Yeah, you need to get real! And bonuses are never a guarantee
you will have more luck asking for tc $175k and wiggling towards $190 through equity/bonuses.
$200k implies another caliber of employee there recruiter may be seeking, especially if someone is wiggling around to $220k..
you’ve likely topped your pay band for your line of work. probably need to enter a new ladder in order to grow towards $200k
You can get close to that in banking + bonuses
It’s high but you have a shot, depending on your specific experience and what’s out there. I’ve seen people go from 170 to triple that (510)
In what world have you seen someone with 5 years of audit experience exit to a $510K job
I saw an audit manager with hedge fund experience go to a large hedge fund as an assistant controller. He was making about 170 all in in big 4 audit. Within one year at the large hedge fund, his total comp was 510. This was a combination of base and an insane bonus. At large hedge funds, bonuses can be as much as 100% of base salary or more. His bonus alone was in the $300,000 range
I’m getting interviews for 140-170 base and I just started actively looking. The market is still hot so it’s possible. Know your worth. But I do appreciate y’all keeping me grounded on expectations
