I think it's easier for competent recruiters. All this AI slop looks the same and doesn't make up for real relationships and intel. AI is great for making a compelling pitch, but often not an accurate one.

Im adding key recruiter words to outlook rules to send recruiter emails to the junk box so they don’t interrupt my limited peace of mind.
I've emailed recruiters back after they rant and rave about a perfect fit and got ghosted more often than not, so they aren't that desperate lol
I’m a second year and just got aggressively pitched on a lifestyle firm that pays $60k less than I make.

I ghost them, so I don’t come off as anything at all. But I do find it extremely irritating that recruiters don’t do due diligence.
There are so many recruiters and many of them are working on the same position. I don’t understand how any of them outside the best of the best are making money.

Lots of recruiters are making $0 and flame out. Lots of experienced recruiters are also making $0 but have fancy bios. On the other hand you can send a ton of trash out and just have 1 person respond with interest and get lucky with an easy deal. It's a weird business, in that you are sometimes better to be lucky than good and yes, more reps raise the probability of getting lucky. And yes, their are lawyers responding to the most obviously dumb reach outs, including rugpulls, etc.
I've had a LOT of firms in the past 5 weeks ask for interviews. Perhaps just random, but I'm averaging like 4+ big law/market comp interviews a week, so I assume things are active.
But I also don't email to approach candidates, because it all feels like AI
