Seeing a spike in recruiter email. Is the lateral market getting warmer or just recruiters getting desperate?

Boost in "efficiency" from AI...

likefunny

I think it's easier for competent recruiters. All this AI slop looks the same and doesn't make up for real relationships and intel. AI is great for making a compelling pitch, but often not an accurate one.

We’re always desperate 😃

Im adding key recruiter words to outlook rules to send recruiter emails to the junk box so they don’t interrupt my limited peace of mind.

I've emailed recruiters back after they rant and rave about a perfect fit and got ghosted more often than not, so they aren't that desperate lol

I’m a second year and just got aggressively pitched on a lifestyle firm that pays $60k less than I make.

In this economy?????

I ghost them, so I don’t come off as anything at all. But I do find it extremely irritating that recruiters don’t do due diligence.

There are so many recruiters and many of them are working on the same position. I don’t understand how any of them outside the best of the best are making money.

Lots of recruiters are making $0 and flame out. Lots of experienced recruiters are also making $0 but have fancy bios. On the other hand you can send a ton of trash out and just have 1 person respond with interest and get lucky with an easy deal. It's a weird business, in that you are sometimes better to be lucky than good and yes, more reps raise the probability of getting lucky. And yes, their are lawyers responding to the most obviously dumb reach outs, including rugpulls, etc.

I've had a LOT of firms in the past 5 weeks ask for interviews. Perhaps just random, but I'm averaging like 4+ big law/market comp interviews a week, so I assume things are active.

But I also don't email to approach candidates, because it all feels like AI

Hello Fishies-!!!!!

I had question, when we apply for a job in another country, they usually ask a question “Are you legally allowed/eligible to work in that country”

In such a case, do you select yes or no? What is the criteria to answer that question?

Please help!

My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups).
