Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! Go elsewhere. Wells is not it. I left and went to CS but I can’t say it’s gotten any better in ops
Charles Schwab? Yeah I know I’m currently working towards a certification and looking outside the company. It’s been stressful just with thinking it could get converted for this long.
You have not told us stay at current contract or do what?
Or apply outside, I am just not finding the same level of pay so far where I have applied.
Keep in mind a permanent position might offer a lower salary when compared to a contractor. However, a permanent position will also offer you a package that includes health insurance, and PTO.
This bridges the gap.
Don't quit your contract role, but keep applying for permanent positions - especially at WF if you want to work there. I converted there from temp to perm, but my role offered it and I had to apply. Since your don't seem to have that option for this role, apply for other positions within the company and try to leverage the fact that you are already familiar with the company and are successful in your current position. If it's possible, make sure your current manager would back you up as a candidate for another role since they will surely contact them and ask about your performance.
My manager would give me a reference and understands but still keeps extending my contract. I like the work I am doing and my team so I am TORN.
Man, three years as a contractor at Wells? I get recruiters reaching out to me all the time about contract jobs at Wells, and they always say that there is a high chance to convert to full time 12-18 months down the line. Guess that's not the case, huh?
Yeah it really just depends I don’t see much conversion happening and I help with contractor hiring too. It is unfortunate since I was sold the contract to hire job and I am just starting my career.
Thank you all for the advice!
Update to all! I got a third extension on my contract and still riding it out😂 ready for the next move like yesterday.
