International transfer - anyone with experience transferring onto an overseas project within your firm and/or via an external hire? What recommendations do you have for someone trying to work abroad?
Hi everyone 🎅! I'm looking to join online communities (like this one) for people in customer success. Particularly Slack groups. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!
Project ended suddenly and had to cancel my flights. How can I capitalize on travel credit? Or do policies restrict this?
Responded to an email written directly to me providing the exact answer. Other client stakeholder is upset the response didn't come from my manager (not on the original email & didn't know the answer)
Friend wants to join consulting for the pay. I don’t believe she has the aptitude or energy for it. We worked together in a much slower industry, and even there she complained of being overworked. I’ve sent her resources to polish up her resume and links for roles but she’s insisting on texting/long phone calls asking silly questions. Today she wants a resume review over zoom! She comes without having done her homework. How do I tell her I’ve given as much as I can? How do I decline referring?
So, I’m leaving and my leadership is pissed. I feel like their attitude is “well you’re leaving so now I just need you so I can download your brain.” and I’ve never felt more like an object and I’m trying not to internalize how guilty I feel about causing others to pickup my slack. Context: solid roll-off plan and I did all of my deliverables for the next month by working through the weekend. Any advice on how to reframe my thinking? Alternatively, AITA? They did just promote me.
SEA PAs that you admire the most in terms of “quality of projects - you want” and “leadership know what they are doing in project” => So, you like what you do in relatively sustainable way.
Fishbowl friends! What's the best way to network to get on a new project when I just switched to a new division and don't know many people?
None of my Zoom meetings have been hacked or compromised, do the hackers think im ugly ?
For my Accenture folks, how is your learning management work in the federal space? Is the project work and opportunity there?
That moment when client data is garbage but it's up to you to decipher through it and make sense of it ☹️
So I had a Zoom presentation to a partner and a manager. The whole time the partner had a smirk on his face. Even the manager noticed. He didn’t understand why he was smirking and I said maybe
All y'all who be testing providence during webex meetings 😂😂😂 https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/28/us/good-morning-america-will-reeve-no-pants-trnd/index.html
Stuck on a tech implementation for 18 months now. Part of me wants to quit my job, but a big reason I am anxious to do so is how pivotal my knowledge and experience is to the success of the project.
I thought I was cute and adorable until I saw myself on zoom every moment of the day. I now know I a so average 😒
Need some advice - been at the D for a year and have been on the same implementation project for over a year. Have a technical background and am thinking of starting to look for exits to industry but also am curious what strategy projects are and if I would be interested in the work. Is it worth networking onto a strategy project at the D or should I just continue to look for industry exists and then go b school and then try for MBB/T2 ?
When does Big 4 usually do background checks? I’m expecting an offer before the holidays and I interviewed a while ago, but was let go from my current place in the process.
Rant: apply for job online. Job emails me with 7 questions as "next steps", one of which is salary. I email back. They email back (at 9pm mind you) "we can't meet your salary expectations"...
Hey all - a recent grad (class of 21) really interested in an associate position at S& Deal Strategy. Found out there was an open position super late, so went ahead and reached out to alum. Have a chat for next monday, but I found out that the PwC national deadline was on Tuesday. Asked alum if it was a hard deadline and he said to apply whenever. Ended up applying on Tuesday in fear that the apps would close, but might have shot myself in the foot. Any advice on how to proceed? Strategy&
What do you look for when interviewing a junior associate (2-3 year) for an in-house associate counsel position? What are your expectations with respect to substantive knowledge? I have some interviews for associate counsel positions at some later-stage startup tech firms and would love some advice on how to stand out from all the other biglaw junior associates.
Thoughts on Smartly MBA smart.ly it’s completely free and more selective than HSW (7% acceptance rate)?
I was asked what my target salary was for art director in Boston. What is a good salary for this area?
Would you move from EY to Reference Point? Total comp is higher at RP and I’d be able to move up to manager there…but not sure if it’s worth moving away from Big4.
Current undergrad. Have internship offers for two very different roles. The first is a public sector generalist management consulting position in DC. The second is for a smaller early-stage incubation venture capital firm in NYC. I've always been somewhat of a generalist, with varying interests. I feel as though based on my decision my life could go in very different directions... Any insights? Esp if you're in public sector consulting or have made a similar dec. Gratitude.
First day as scrum master and for a new team, any tips? I’m not used to gathering a team that’s 100% remote and am trying to figure out creative ways to get the team engaged.
With traditional education being challenged by Coursera, Udemy, EDX and other MOOC's, do certifications like CISSP, CISM, PMP, CCNA.. still hold weight in today's world? What about 3-5yrs frm now?
Hi guys, wanted to know a little bit about the Post Merger Integration(PMI) team at KPMG Global Services. Would be great if you can share about nature of projects, work life balance, travel etc.
I feel like I cannot ever clear a coding interview round when the questions are around graphs and other dsa. I mean its easy for me to work with apis and architecting a solution. Apart from leetcode is there anything that can help me get a better at these interviews?
My husband turned out positive for Covid 19 and I’m negative (still). Anybody out there who took care of someone with Covid cares to share advice? 🙏
Transferring from one HCOL city to another later this year. LinkedIn shows salaries for my level are 2% higher in the new city. Any advice on negotiating a raise with HR before my transfer? Trying not to be in the dark on my salary post-transfer until the last minute (I’m cynical and worried they might even try to pull off a slight reduction), and ideally I want at least a slight raise.
I ended up in a heated discussion about something work related with a director and I did not let my guard down and made my points clear. I feel like he now has a grudge against me.
People always say sue the company or owner. Is it that easy to sue someone? Especially around employment when people are getting laid off due to Covid. I think Deloitte or any big consulting firm it’s not easy to sue them, they are well protected
I’d love some help thinking through this. I’m currently renting for $1600 base ($1800 total) and live in the least desirable part of town, and expect it to raise to about $2k/month. I was planning to buy my first property in the city and Airbnb part of it, but it will take me about a year to save up the cash (~$500k starting). Eventual goal is to move more rural but trying to build to FI. I found a property in my ideal dream location for $280k but it needs work, and can’t Airbnb it. Continued
What’s everyone’s best passive income strategy? Any tips/suggestions to share? Currently only relying on salary and looking to build more sources of income to retire early if I can!
