I was in exact same place 5-6 months ago. You should consider these prior to taking BCG offer (not even commenting about interviews coz by now these should be considered as hygiene factors)
1) Brand & Exit opportunity: BCG brand gives you great exit opportunities and foot in the door of any organisation that exists today
2) Downgrads: You joining as an SA (equivalent to 2-years post MBA) means you'll be reporting to your bschool juniors 3 years younger to you + you'll be facing exit-and-out reviews within an year (SA to C evaluation). That means your next 12 months will be a rollercoaster.
3) Generalist: This was more relevant for me not sure if you'll have the same issue - I had gained significant exposure to healthcare projects so going back to BCG as a generalist meant starting a fresh
4) Salary: your offered salary and BCG salary is nearly same now. But if you are able to sustain BCG lifestyle and stay back >4 years the earnings comparison would greatly favor BCG as a choice.
5) Growth: see an YOY comparison where you could be if you stay 5-7 years in BCG (with whiter hairs ofcourse) vs the other firm. Let's say there is a definite possibility of becoming a director/vp at you other firm in 7 years and your current director (or equivalent) was hired from MBB from engagement manager / associate partner levels then growth wise staying in BCG or the other presents same career opportunities.
6) Mental & physicial Health: Nothing against brilliant minds at BCG - but see to it that your choice doesn't have unrecoverable repercussions to you (don't go after glorification blindly). I had a friend, a campus hire who took salary cut and left BCG in 2 years he had dire schedule for months and then developed severe depression as a result.

And no, it isn't. From whatever second hand information I have from my friends from BITS, old IITs (Associate Hiring at both places) and few from ISB / IIMs (Senior Associate role), it's mainly case interviews + fit round (not always). Fre partners might be a bit demanding on time and math but they're generally very accommodating and idea is to let you dig the insight in cases and they're there to help.
No don't pull out. Give it a shot. Even if you don't get through you will at least know why didn't you get through

Why would you be a nervous wreck when you already have a 42 LPA offer? It’s just case rounds.

I would like to point out that they are seriously down-leveling you, if that matters to you. If I'm not mistaken, SA is the post MBA role people get when they join immediately after graduating. You'll be 3-4 years away from PL/Manager. Folks from BCG - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
They don't, but the degree of down-leveling is pretty high here. I've usually seen 1-2 years, not 3-4.
