What are your thoughts on the value of a Harvard Extension School degree vs. a standard online MBA from a reputable public university? I feel like the Harvard name carries a lot of value....
What is the best certification to pursue in this area? Looking at SHRM-CP but want to learn more about others.
Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
Hi 🐠! My firm is willing to file an EB3 GC for me, however I’m from a highly backlogged country and was wondering what’s the realistic timeline for it from start to finish? The process seems to be stressful, to say the least. Alternatively, I have the ability to venture out into Canada (as I’m yet to pursue my MBA, after which I plan on pivoting into a diff. industry). What would you do?
Which one would you rate better for someone targeting PE Investment roles post MBA and why: CBS/ Sloan/ Booth/ Kellogg? HSW seem out of reach. Asking for a cousin! TIA
Considering consulting post-MBA and targeting MBB/Deloitte. What are pros/cons of being a post-MBA consultant at one of these firms?
I used to be so ambitious - stay till manager, go for MBA, all that. But between the pandemic and working in public accounting, now all I want is a dog, a house, and a long term partner.
Assuming from a top University, how well regarded is a masters in business analytics from a recruiting standpoint? Considering getting one over an MBA.
Vast majority of MBA programs seem to have a higher median income to debt ratio, so seems worth it overall. Obviously top ranked programs tends to lead to higher salaries and depends what you were making going into a program, but generally seems like a good investment.
Anyone take courses/get a degree from Harvard Extension School? Experience? Was it worth it? Are you also able to build a network? Realize it’s not like an MBA, but that doesn’t fit my life now .
Currently a recent college grad and working as an analyst in financial services. Majored in Risk Mgmt and working a rotation within Risk. Contemplating whether I should go back to school for an MBA or JD? Would like to be in house counsel at my company with JD or Senior/Exec leader with MBA. Thoughts?
Has anyone successfully moved into product management from NYU Tech MBA or Cornell Tech MBA? It’s been difficult trying to make the switch into product management and I’m willing to put in the cash to make it happen.
Im lucky enough to have the funds to pay for my MBA outright. Is there any reason I should say I’m going to try to get a loan on my app? Should I consider getting a loan? Does this affect my chances at a scholarship?
Is an MBA worth it?
Im a M at a Big 4 firm working M&A strategy. 10+ YOE, no MBA. I got here with an engineering degree. 200k+ TC. I’m considering a MBA, in fact, I got accepted to a top 20 school and will start part time in just over a month. Is it necessary at this point? Im already doing the work and learning what I need on the job. Do I need to put the stamp on it and make it official?
Left consulting in 2019, raised a fund, and acquired a healthcare SaaS business. Looking to bring on a Director of Client Success to lead the function. Role will interface with VPs and CSuite of payers. Lots of opportunity to make consulting level impact in industry. I'm targeting a post-mba consultant but open to other conversations. If interested, send me an email at email@example.com
What the salaries for M2/M3 at your firms? With and without MBA. Wanted to know the Canadian ranges.
Thoughts on GA Tech or Emory MBA? I am in Atlanta and would like to stay here for my MBA, but do not want to waste time/money if it’s brand is not valued by top firms.
I am interested in getting my SHRM-CP certification this year and I was wondering which study methods and materials worked best for those of you who passed the exam. Also, what are your roles in HR?!
Best bottomless (bonus points for east village area ish) a friends coming in from out of town
If you plan to leave your firm and your manager asks you why you're leaving, what do you say? I have a legitimate non-bridge-burning reason unrelated to comp or simply "big tech is better" reason. I have asked for more client facing exposure and haven't gotten it cause weird reasons, which was the factor that caused me to look for exits in the first place. But I'm not sure if I should bring this up. Should I just be vague and say "looking for a new chapter"?
If I already have United silver status (Marriott status match), is it still worth it to get the United explorer card? Up to 70k bonus, $0 intro fee then $95 after (will downgrade after a year to Gateway $0 fee card)
Tis the season for mileage runs. Being new to constant travel, I’m not close enough to the next level. However.. share you’re craziest mileage run story! Living vicariously. Miles, cost, legs, time...
For those who have been forced out of MBB, I’m just curious — did you end up having to take a pay cut when exiting, or did you get something that paid even more?
Has anyone taken any marketing leadership certification classes they can recommend!? Thanks
Currently interviewing for a role at ACN, passed the HR screen and the first Skills interview. From what I gathered it’s another 30 min skills interview then a video call with an MD. Is this the normal process ? This seems.. so efficient ? Accenture
This may sound odd but I want to eventually work at all the big 4. To me it'll be like collecting infinity stones. Once you work at all 4, what crappy super power do you get? Currently 25% of the way there
Too much of a bitch to quit. My side biz is booming but I'm too risk adverse to go for it. Almost want to just get laid off - Exhausted from working 2 jobs. And no they aren't related to each other
Recently accepted an offer but I got another one later on with better pay and benefits for the same job. How common is for people to withdraw from accepted offers and how do you address it? Will that affect possibilities to move to that company in the future?
Best hotels in Florence, Italy? Not using points, so hoping for under $200/night. Female traveling alone.
So I work for a company that just removed a woman I was working with that I loved dearly and gave her a different role. I worked with her with veteran recruiting. (I’m just doing it for an employee resource group, it’s her full time role) She used to be the face of recruiting for veterans and diversity and she was so kick ass at her role. I’m pissed because she was only moved because she is white and they replaced her with a new team of people that are all black. For no reason.
Curious about what sort of projects are available in the OCM space at Deloitte. Ready to take on a new role soon and seeing whats out there. Experience in tech implementations (Salesforce/Workday) Also worked in automotive, wireless and finserv industries
If I like public accounting but just don’t like the B4 environment and hours, does it make sense to move to a smaller regional firm? Would be looking to switch from audit to a more niche service line. Part of me is scared about losing better exit opportunities after downsizing, but I’m kind of tired of being worn out by work all of the time. Anyone do this? I see mostly B4 to B4 jumps at the senior level these days, so don’t know if there’s something I’m missing.
Is it safe to go for Airbnb these days from hygiene and COVID standpoint? Planning a short trip but worried about staying in hotel or air BnB. What do other folks think? Airbnb are all sold out so definitely lot of traffic and higher chances for exposure
Currently preparing for a shift to a startup, where I’ll initially be making less money than I do now in Big 4, but I believe in the mission, the founder, and the vision. Any advice for preparing for the leap?
Just need to gripe. My partner of 10 years and I don’t plan on having kids. Why shouldn’t I get a paid sabbatical in lieu of parental leave? (Could apply to straight peeps too)
