I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

If it is IT audit, then no. Please continue applying
I second, third, and fourth this 100%. Fuck this job
If it’s your only option and you’ve been trying a while, yes. Do a year or two then apply to the role you want. Much easier with “consulting experience” on your resume.

IT Audit -> MBA -> consulting might be an option

Really depends on the role.
This new info shifts me into the no category. Audit to consulting will be hard. If you were going from one consulting practice to another somewhat related; that may not be as bad
I’ve never seen anyone move from IT Audit to another service except to assurance. Never met anyone who enjoyed the work either
you can go from IT audit to a smaller consulting firm much easier than no consulting experience to any consulting firm
