Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

If you’re a fourth year in biglaw, what responsibilities are you given in m&a? I feel like I still haven’t had a ton of opportunities working on purchase agreements (and mostly just take the lead on ancillary work streams) and I’m afraid I’m falling behind others in my class year.

Have opportunity to work in my firm’s London satellite office for about a year and a half, and then come back to NY headquarters. Anybody have experience with adjournment requests in the 1st Dept App Division? We have a respondent’s brief due a week from Wednesday. This past we submitted an application for adjournment. I’ve convinced my partner that we have good cause (record issues that need a motion to resolve) but now I’m starting to get worried. Are adjournments usually granted?
