Silly question but how do y’all determine Tech vs non-Tech role? If there’s at minimum SQL requirement does that qualify as Tech role? Just applied for for a Data Analyst role that is scoped at L4-L5 (confirmed by recruiter) in NYC and trying to figure out what the comp range is, at least the base. And if you know the comp range please share.

If you go for interview and you sort of know that the person interviewing you might be curious about something on your negative on your resume like why is there a gap or why were you in XX role for so long?

Do you address it pre-emptively? Or does that show insecurity and you leave the elephant in the room and wait till they ask you?

I guess this is more in the case of networking than interview like do you make your own story?

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
