Consultant in BAS here. I got word back really quickly after each interview, ranging from being told during the interview itself that I’d be moving on to a few days of waiting. It took about a week from my last interview to be notified I’d be given an offer, but then the final signature needed was from someone who happened to be OOO that week. It took another half-week or so for me to receive the formal offer docs, and I chose my start date as the sooner of the two options I was given — they do onboarding every two weeks, at least in my market, so I chose the start date that was two weeks away rather than a month away.
Importantly, hiring has slowed a LOT right now in part due to Slalom’s refusal to lay anyone off during the pandemic, coupled with an lack of expected post-bonus attrition this year. There isn’t enough work to go around, but I can personally attest that Slalom is working on selling more work to solve that issue (I’ve been involved with several sales pursuits lately and it’s a topic that has come up a couple times). The difference in hiring timeline is really significant from what I’ve heard, but Slalom is not known for ghosting. My interviews ended up being scheduled 1-2 weeks apart and I had 4 total, but MANY people end up having 5 interviews. (I’m counting the initial phone screen as an interview btw) They put a lot of weight on fit, as they should, so often an additional fit interview is needed — it’s a good thing, really. I happened to come with a skill set that they really need and were looking for, so my fit was established weirdly early. Again I’m just speaking to my experience in BAS at consultant level!
Whole interview process was a week and a half. Had two days between my first and second interview, then had my third interview the following week and received an offer shortly after.
I had an initial phone screen chat followed by 5(!) interviews which were all mostly behavioral questions apart from a few technical and external client interactions questions. I was always notified of the next interview either the day of or the next day. I think I had so many interviews because I was switching from Industry to Consulting so they wanted to make sure I was a good fit and would be able to handle the transition. Got my offer a few hours after the final interview.
Ugh before you go ahead with their 4-5 interviews ask them if they are actively hiring and have a project for you IN PLACE that you can join ! I went through all interviews, was told I got the job and they’d be sending an offer and then found out they have a hiring freeze in place for the office i applied to. Each interview round it took about a week to hear back.
Also- I’ve heard this is very common practice for them. I’ve spoke to so many people who said slalom told them they had a hiring freeze in place right after they became offer eligible… and all at different times /years.
