What kind of negative feedback do you get as an MD? Does it affect you emotionally? Do you address it and improve? Or do you dismiss it because you've already made it as an MD and your success speaks for itself?
M2... i'm not the OP but making MD was awarded 175k in stock. CL4s will get 40-60k in stock bonus per year at minimum. (I'm CL4 so cant speak to Sr MD). Total comp in Y1 of MD with salary/equity/bonus was >300k. I'm usually on low end of comparable comp. As an experienced CL4 now my total comp with stacked up bonus/matching awards vesting I'll be near 400k this year. I know an experienced CL3 whose total comp (including vested matches, etc) was >700k last year.
IBM. I sold a $12 million project because the CEO and I were in the same wine society
Career goal = retire, sail, help my kids be good people.
Comp? Depends on the year. Could be $350. Could be $650
Base + Bonus?
Once we called him out on making $350-650k as a ‘sr’ MD, he was outa here...
What’s your name?
25+ years in consulting. Senior MD at ACN
How did you become a MD?
The real story not that one you share with fam and friends
What’s your career goal?
A1. If I knew I’d be a billionaire. My guess is automation is coming, the way we work now will be drastically sped up
A1: it honestly doesn’t matter. Become an expert in something and you’ll do very well
A8: Im sure that’s demotivating for u to see a ‘sr’ MD say that. But he did and people don’t make those ‘mistakes’ on low end. If anything they exaggerate on high end
The power of the internet. SMH. Some of you are downright rude. Take all the comments posted above and imagine if you were all in the same room with that MD. You should be embarrassed.
Fairly sure those were fake numbers. It's late. He has kids. Come on folks don't burn it for the rest of us.
Are you regretting yet that you opened the floodgate of questions?
Hey OP thanks for doing this! I'd like to start with your insights of the Consulting industry. What do you see us in 10-20 years? What type of work, client needs, function, industry will be changing unexpectedly? How will the consulting firms' business model be evolving to adapt to the changes? Thanks again!
OP thanks! Didn't try to ask a billion dollar question at all 😂. Then my next question is, function or industry alignment do you see more tangible for career progression?
